Learn about this year's theme: Open Doors!

Several years ago, our leadership team started selecting a theme to ground our annual Day of Prayer and serve as a touchpoint for the rest of the season.

The Executive Team and Board of Directors connect the current challenges, opportunities, and blessings facing the league with our mission and our core values. When they translate the connection into a theme, it provides a way for all of us to think more carefully about the culture we help to create and pray for the mission we share in Christ.

So, let’s turn the knob of revealing this year’s theme: Open Doors!

The 2026-2027 theme is based on the way our mission and values intersect with words penned by the Apostle Paul in the book of Colossians.

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” Colossians 4:3-4 NIV

Paul saw himself as an ambassador for Christ, and so do we!

We want to share a few points to consider as you join us in praying for NCFCA this season and serving as ambassadors for the league and for Christ.

Ambassadors need open doors.

It’s a rare privilege to be heard by anyone we don’t already know. Anyone with an internet connection can throw words into a world with more information than people can possibly process!

Paul recognized that, even in his culture, there were barriers to communication that only God could clear. He used the metaphor of an open door when he asked fellow believers to pray for those barriers to be removed.

Connecting with an audience requires an open door. In NCFCA, we provide round after round of open doors for students to practice speaking to new audiences.

Ambassadors must be ready to speak.

Paul also knew that he and his team needed to be equipped for the moment a door finally opened. He wanted to make the most of the opportunity to share words of truth with clear speech.

Our mission is to equip students with skills that will help them seize opportunities to speak with integrity and grace, both in our league and beyond. We know the skills they build will lead to more open doors.

Ambassadors are hospitable.

We want to welcome newcomers to the world of speech and debate with a level of hospitality worthy of our mission as Ambassadors for Christ. Every new family, new club, and new community judge means more open doors.

You can see our many efforts to throw open doors far and wide like Outreach team members visiting conventions and Capitol Days throughout the country, our Fill-the-Map campaign, and invitations to local friends and family to serve as a community judge!

Join Us.

We invite you to pray with us on September 15 and throughout the season as we welcome new and returning families this season to look for open doors, and rise to the opportunities they present for proclaiming truth.
