Our league depends on countless hours of work and support from every participating family and hundreds of volunteers each season. Staff members and year-round volunteers are here to support them as they make the NCFCA mission happen.
Christy and her husband Rich live in Virginia and are the parents of four NCFCA alumni and one current competitor. Their children began competing in 2011, but Christy has been involved in the league since its inception as one of its founders. She has a degree in Political Science from Cedarville University where she competed in both value and policy debate. When she’s not involved in all things debate, she enjoys teaching and playing the piano and spending time outdoors.

The Min family became involved in NCFCA in 2008, with all four sons actively competing for 13 years. During that time, Misun held various leadership positions, including Regional Director for Region 10. She and her husband, Steve, reside in New York City and are dedicated to mentoring and guiding young people. In her spare time, Misun enjoys cooking and hosting gatherings. She earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Lori and her husband Scott live in Illinois and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to five grandchildren. Three of their children competed in NCFCA beginning in 2011. Lori has a background in music education and holds a B.A. from Northwest Nazarene University. In addition to playing the piano and directing choir, Lori loves to garden, make soap, and read to her grandchildren.
Marla Dennison holds an associate degree in accounting, a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bethel University, and a master’s in business administration with an emphasis on international finance from Regis University. She is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). She serves as the Chief Operating and Finance Officer for DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, MN. Marla has also served as an adjunct professor for the MBA and MOL programs at University of Northwestern, where her exposure to NCFCA originated as the AVP for Business Services. Her passion for NCFCA developed as she interacted with students, families, and the staff of NCFCA over the many years judging and serving NCFCA on the UNW campus. Marla and her husband Randy have 7 children, 10 grandchildren, and enjoy their time being surrounded by family.
Ghena and her husband Jonathan live in Ohio with their fourteen children. They began their NCFCA journey in 2014 and have five alumni, three current competitors and a host of juniors to come. Ghena obtained her undergraduate degree in English and Theatre Secondary Education from Cedarville University. Her Master’s degree is from the University of Wyoming in Curriculum and Instruction. She has been a second-generation homeschooling mom for seventeen years, and her days straddle discussing philosophy and reading Elephant and Piggie books. Her hobbies include sneaking in pages of reading one paragraph at a time and snuggling all the littles.
Mike and his wife, Maile, live on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. They began their NCFCA journey in 2015. They have four children, three alumni, and one current competitor, and together coach and direct Honolulu Speech & Debate. Mike holds a degree in Business Administration with emphases in Marketing and Information Systems from the University of Washington, and is the founder of RapidTek Solutions, a technology consulting firm. He also serves as Pastor for Leadership at Harbor Church Honolulu, where he has been on staff for four years. He enjoys surfing, watercolor painting, and gardening.
Vince and his wife, Sherrie, live in northern New Jersey. All three of their children enjoyed participating in NCFCA for several years competing in Team Policy, Lincoln-Douglas Value debate and various speech categories. Vince’s career spans 40 years of serving in communications roles — as an Air Force Officer, an agency executive and as a managing director at Deloitte. He also serves as an elder in his local church. He enjoys reading and golf. Vince earned a BA degree from Baylor University, majoring in political science and journalism.
Kim and her husband Jeff live in Washington and have three adult daughters who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2008. She holds a BS in Biology from the University of South Carolina and a MS in Human Nutrition from Clemson University. When she’s not working on NCFCA, you’ll find her in the garden or with her chickens and bees.
Kristine and her husband Pete, are lifelong Oregonians and have six grown children who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2009. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources from Portland State University. She enjoys the outdoors and loves gardening, bicycling, kayaking, beach walks, and hiking, especially near waterfalls.
The Gray’s NCFCA journey began in 2014. Anne Marie and her husband Andy live in Texas and have three adult sons who all competed in NCFCA and three daughters who still compete. She holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. Her hobbies include reading, writing, enjoying nature while hiking or jogging, and enjoying friends while sipping coffee.
Julie and her husband, Tom, divide their time between Minnesota and Florida. They have three adult children who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2012. She holds a BA in Political Science from Bethel University. Her hobbies include running marathons and baking.
Krista lives in South Florida with her husband Hector and daughter. They have 4 children who have all competed in NCFCA over the past 8 years. Krista studied business at Miami Dade College, worked in entertainment and corporate environments, and began homeschooling 13 years ago. She enjoys spending time with family, watching the beautiful Florida sunset, walking on the beach, and a good cup of coffee.
Paula and her husband Tom are originally from the Chicago area but currently live in Indiana. They have three adult children who competed in NCFCA starting in 2011. Paula studied Accounting at Depaul University and enjoys balancing spreadsheets for fun. Her other hobbies include reading, walking, crocheting and traveling to spend time with family.
Melinda and her husband Lincoln live in Alabama and have four children, including three NCFCA alumni and one future competitor. They joined the league in 2016. She holds a BA in English and a MS in Curriculum and Instruction both from the University of Tennessee. She enjoys reading English mysteries and Russia novels, writing and editing, and talking about foster care and adoption.
Brenda and her husband Scott live in the Virginia countryside and have five children who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2007. She hopes someday to revive her BA in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, but for now she loves paddleboarding, reading C.S. Lewis, quilting, and promoting NCFCA to everyone!
Rebecca and her husband Lee have settled in North Florida after the Navy took their family around the world. They have four adult daughters and six grandchildren. They have been involved with NCFCA since 2014. Rebecca is a Communications graduate of Toccoa Falls College and she loves sewing, quilting and sitting in cozy coffee shops with her hubby.
Jennifer and her husband, Louis, live in North Carolina and have four adult children who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2013. She holds a BA in English with a minor in Biology from George Mason University and spent 10 years working at bank ranging from teller, to bank manager, to commercial loan underwriter. Her hobbies include reading, counted cross-stitch, volunteering at her church and deaf food pantry.
Joanna and her husband Rob live in Northeast Tennessee and have two sons, both NCFCA alumni. They have been a part of NCFCA since 2019. Joanna has a BA in business and communication from Calvin University. She enjoys coaching at her local speech and debate club, baking, reading, and hiking in the beautiful Appalachian mountains.
Originally from Massachusetts, Nancy lives in Texas with her husband, David. They have two adult children and are proud grandparents. Their NCFCA journey began in 2014 when their youngest son requested to participate in speech and debate. Nancy enjoys reading, researching, kayaking, and being outdoors if the temperature is right.
Lisa and Alan live in Wisconsin and have three children, all of whom have been challenged and sharpened through the NCFCA community since 2014. Lisa holds an MS in Literacy from Concordia University, thrills to be with a classroom of teenagers, delights in her large extended family, and relaxes best with a flute in hand.
June and her husband Michael are residents of Florida and have five adult daughters who all competed in the NCFCA beginning in 2010. She holds a BA in Elementary Education from University of North Florida. Her hobbies include reading, cross stitching, puzzles, scrapbooking and gardening.
Jennifer and her husband Chris are blessed with 5 children (and 1 son-in-law) and reside in Alabama. After their youngest 2 children were born with a developmental disability resulting in severe communication challenges, Jennifer and Chris sought to foster good stewardship of communication skills in their oldest 3 children, leading them to join NCFCA in 2018. Jennifer founded a nonprofit organization for the rare disorder her youngest two share, and she continues to serve on its board of directors. Having studied vocal performance at Middle Tennessee State University, Jennifer also enjoys directing her church choir and teaching voice lessons from her home studio.
Haley Meier enjoys life in North Texas as a transplant from the Seattle area with her husband of 21 years and their two children. Since their NCFCA start in 2022, Haley has discovered new favorite uses for her BA in Education and background in theatre: coaching interps, teaching workshops, and conducting regular LD debates across the dinner table. She loves showtunes, strategy board games, and giving out copies of her favorite books!
Debra and her husband live in Texas and have four children, three of which have graduated and are enrolled in college/post college studies. The Oliver Family has participated in NCFCA since 2016. After receiving her BS in Mathematics (and Secondary Education) from Marquette University, Debra went on to teach High School Math and coach both volleyball and softball for eight years. Her hobbies include crafting, crocheting, baking, and camping.
Caleb Parks lives in Bellevue, WA with his family and was a competitor in NCFCA starting in 2014. Caleb thought his time with the league was at an end when he began studying for his bachelors in Software Engineering at Liberty University, but little did he know that providence would have him developing software for NCFCA 5 years later! In his free time, Caleb enjoys time with family, strategy games, and his church’s vibrant young adult community.
Taia and her family live in eastern Washington and have two children that began competing with NCFCA in 2021. She holds a BS in Radiologic Sciences and is a former member of the U.S. Air Force. Taia homeschools her children and coaches at her local NCFCA Club. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, walking, playing card/board games, and traveling.
Lisa and her husband Ric live in Ohio and have three adult sons who all competed in NCFCA beginning in 2013. She holds a BA in Economics from Pacific Lutheran University and an MBA from Cameron University. Her hobbies include reading, writing, knitting, hiking, and gardening.
Christian Stordahl lives in Kennewick, WA, with four children who have been part of NCFCA since 2016. After 22 years, she jokingly claims an honorary degree in Homeschool Management. She enjoys exercising, soaking up sunshine, hibernating a bit in the winter, reading, spending time with family, and saying yes to the occasional semi-adventurous activity.
Tara and her husband Bryan live in northern Louisiana. They have three alumni sons who all competed in NCFCA since joining in 2019. Tara herself was exclusively homeschooled and enjoys carrying on the legacy and beauty of home education. She enjoys the slower pace of life, spending quiet mornings on the porch with the newest edition of The Classical Teacher while watching the cattle graze.
Maile and her husband, Mike, live in East Honolulu on the island of Oahu. They have four children and a daughter-in-law, all of whom competed (and two who currently compete) in NCFCA beginning in 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound. Her hobbies include coffee over long chats with family and friends, hiking, and spending time with her sweet grandchildren, most of all!
Jana served several years in Christian ministry both at home and internationally before she and her husband, Michael, settled in Western Washington. She added NCFCA to their homeschooling journey in 2017 and is now on the home stretch with four alumni and two competitors.
Jana loves espresso and old books in the morning, friends and sunshine, researching, history, and traveling anywhere that has a museum.
Kathleen and her husband Joel live in North Idaho with their five children. Their family first started participating in NCFCA in 2021 and have many exciting years ahead of them! Before making the shift to be at home, she attended the University of Idaho studying Chemical Engineering. When she’s not homeschooling, she tries to fit in as much reading as possible, trivia with friends, and trying to keep up her Wordle streak.
Nicole lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband, Kurt, and their four children. She studied Spanish and Elementary Education at Indiana University before moving west from her home state of Indiana. She enjoys hiking in the desert and taking in the beauty of Arizona’s landscape. Nicole is redeeming her own education through homeschooling her kids and delights in catching up on the classics—preferably with a good cup of coffee and an old book in hand.
Heather and her husband Kevin live in Kansas and have two adult sons, both of whom competed in NCFCA beginning in 2014. Heather earned a BA in Journalism and Public Relations from Kansas State University and a Masters in Teaching and Leadership from Kansas University. Heather’s hobbies include gardening, stand up paddleboarding, interior design, reading, and bird watching.
Katie and her husband Tim live in east Tennessee. They began their NCFCA journey in 2015 and have three NCFCA alumni, three competitors, and one junior competitor. She holds a BA of Biblical Studies from the College at Southeastern. Katie enjoys coaching Apologetics and junior speech, especially to the competitors in her own home. When not coaching she stays busy growing plants and children.
Sara Harms lives in New York City with Matt, her husband of 26 years, and her 3 daughters. Sara graduated with her BS in Theatre Arts and is passionate about mentoring young women, prayer walks with friends, and exploring national parks, new cities, and neighborhoods. Transplanting from the West Coast via St Louis, Missouri, the Harms Family graduated from dinner table debates to join NCFCA in 2021. They love worshipping and serving in their church community, hosting friends and neighbors for dinner and family movie nights.
April and her husband, Steven, have homeschooled their five children since 2006 and proudly call Texas home. They began their NCFCA journey in 2020 with their youngest three children. April holds a BS in Genetics from Texas A&M University and especially enjoys teaching high school math and science. She’s always up for a road trip, a coffee date, or a cozy family movie night—and daydreams about RV life to visit their growing, far-flung family someday.
Tashan and her husband, Nathan, have four children and have been involved in NCFCA since 2017. She holds a BA in Family Ministry from Toccoa Falls College. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, having coffee with friends, and traveling whenever possible.
Sara and her husband Andrew live in Wisconsin. She spent 15 years working in the medical field doing hospital transcription. Recently, she graduated the first of their six children after homeschooling since kindergarten. Their family began participating in NCFCA in 2020. Her hobbies include thrifting, collecting houseplants, and road tripping around the United States.
Vicki and her husband, Shaun, live in Indiana and are raising six children, with most of them competing in NCFCA since 2019. She has a desire to see discipleship being lived out throughout the generations. Her hobbies include playing card/board games, crafting with her Cricut, and finding great deals!
Debbie and her husband Rob live in South Florida and have four children, three of whom are NCFCA alumni and one is a current competitor. They first affiliated with NCFCA in 2015. She holds a BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of Miami as well as an MA in TESOL from Nova Southeastern University. She loves music, dancing and family movie nights and is passionate about sharing her knowledge about education with families.
Jennifer and her husband Taylor live in Augusta, Georgia, and have five children who have been sharpened and encouraged in both their skills and character through the NCFCA community since 2019. Jennifer holds a BFA with a concentration in graphic design from Mississippi State University. She has a passion for hospitality and enjoys painting, interior design, needlepoint, antiques, backpacking, and kitchen dance parties with her family.
Tashan and her husband, Nathan, have four children and have been involved in NCFCA since 2017. She holds a BA in Family Ministry from Toccoa Falls College. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, having coffee with friends, and traveling whenever possible.
Ellen and her husband Charlie live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they classically educate their four children. Their family has been part of the NCFCA since 2021, and they recently celebrated the graduation of their oldest. She holds a BA in Political Science from Shippensburg University. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys serving in her church, working on political campaigns, diving into great books, and spending time with her family.
Anneliese and her husband, Bob, live in Texas with their only child, a current NCFCA competitor, and their family has been involved in the league since 2022. She earned a B.S. in Education from Baylor University with a concentration in English and Speech Communications and taught in Texas public schools for 14 years before transitioning to a homeschool classroom. During her free time, she enjoys getting lost in a good book, strolling through nature, and making memories on family trips.
Martha, a native of Southern California, has been living in Washington state with her husband and seven children for over twenty years. They homeschooled from the start, with some of the kids venturing into NCFCA in 2021. Martha has managed a variety of different roles in both family-owned companies and church or parachurch ministries, most recently volunteering with a Washington Pro-Life ministry. She loves doing anti-abortion apologetic and evangelistic outreach on college campuses, reading history and theology books while drinking coffee, playing with her grand baby, and surrounding herself with more houseplants than her family appreciates.
Lynna is a Chicago native who worked 10 years in sales and management before settling down to start a family. She began homeschooling because she thought “How hard can it be?” but then after having 6 kids, she realized she was a bit overwhelmed and outnumbered. God led her to NCFCA and the next thing she knew, she was teaching speech and debate and running the National Logistics Team. Over the past 8 years, all of her kids have competed in Speech, Debate, and Moot Court. Lynna and her husband Brian reside in SE Wisconsin and her days are filled with teaching homeschool classes, raising teenage boys, and giving haircuts. She enjoys cooking for a crowd, welcoming people to her home, and coming up with fun mixer games.
