Original is an Interpretation speech event that invites students to write their own original literary work or adapt a new and fresh story from an existing literary work. Students will: 

• Search for inspiration. God creates from nothing. Students can’t create from nothing, but they can use raw materials that God created and inspiration from His world to create something new and unique. Students find inspiration from real life, memorable stories, historical events, and their imagination
• Develop creative writing skills. As students develop plot, setting, character, and theme, they will work their imagination and hone their writing skills.
• Consider their audience. Writing and presenting an original work encourages students to share a personal message to encourage or inspire others.
