How This Event Works
Oratorical Thematic challenges competitors to choose a worthy theme to bring to life through synthesizing and dramatizing excerpts taken directly from one or more published speeches.

Why should I participate in Oratorical Thematic?
Oratorical Thematic allows students to bring published speeches, originally given by another speaker, to life for an audience. In addition, students participating in Oratorical Thematic will:
- Consider original sources. Student will interact with a rich trove of published speeches while learning about the historical, political, and social context in which they were originally delivered.
- Explore universal themes and make connections. Students learn to tie multiple oration selections together by finding common themes.
- Edify the audience. By turning oration(s) into an Interpretation speech, students will be able to communicate truth in a manner that resonates with the audience.
- Improve skills. Interpretation speeches challenge students to talk and act like a variety of characters. Oratorical Thematic can help students to improve their vocal and physical delivery.
