The Coach's Manual is designed to allow any person to teach this 12-week course to both novice and advanced high school debaters. With a complete lesson plan for each week, answers for all discussion questions and exercises, and a coach’s guide for all student activities, even teachers or parents without previous debate experience will be equipped to teach the art of policy debate to their students. Lesson plans are thorough and include coaching tips, a detailed class agenda, time estimates for each activity, activity instructions, review questions, and student assignments. The Coach’s Manual also includes the full Competitor’s Handbook.

Students will learn how to reason; research a topic; construct, defend, and refute an argument; and communicate in a persuasive way to many different types of audience. In addition, this course offers students plenty of opportunities to exercise these skills through fun and practical hands-on activities that accompany each lesson. Throughout this course students will also learn to apply a Christian worldview to the activity of debate and be inspired to use their communication skills in service to Christ.
