Thank you, NCFCA family.

Mary Rudicill. Chuck Hohnbaum. Donna Hartman.

These names may not have made headline news, but in addition to my parents, teachers, and youth group leaders, these three people eternally impacted my life during my young adult years. Mrs. Rudicill taught me to value every person and to treat them with love and respect. Mr. Hohnbaum challenged me to seek truth from God's Word rather than settle for skeptical indifference. Mrs. Hartman planted seeds of faith and family that bloomed many years later. I couldn't see the indelible impression that these folks left in the wet cement of my youth, but now I clearly see that they shaped me into the person I am today. For that, I am truly grateful.

Through NCFCA we have that same incredible opportunity to invest in the lives of young people. Parents disciple their children, bringing them up in the love and admonition of the Lord. Club leaders and coaches invite students into a collaborative learning adventure, equipping them with the skills to think and communicate effectively. NCFCA staff and volunteers spur students on by providing an opportunity to hone and sharpen skills through competition. Partners invest in students through educational opportunities designed to refine ideas, and volunteer judges offer feedback, enabling students to fine tune their communication for maximum effectiveness. After twenty years of sowing, we are watching God reap a harvest in alumni across this nation who are using their skills for His glory.

During this season of Thanksgiving, I join the apostle Paul in saying, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:3-6). Together, may we be the Mary Rudicills, the Chuck Hohnbaums, and the Donna Hartmans who leave a lasting impact in the lives of others.
