Dear NCFCA family,

NCFCA meets its mission by hosting competitive opportunities that prepare young Christians to communicate truth with integrity and grace. The devolving situation with COVID-19 has compelled our leadership team to fervently pray that this cup would pass. We have also prayed that God’s will would be done. With great sadness, we are cancelling the remainder of our 2020 competition season, including the National Championship.

Since my last update, our leadership team has met daily to assess our options in light of new developments. Federal, state, and local mandates limiting group meeting size through mid-May effectively cancelled the majority of our Regional Championships across the country. Despite our attempts to explore alternative options, we have reached the difficult conclusion that it is neither practical nor wise for 1,300 people to gather together, living in close proximity on the University of Northwestern campus for a week in June. Beyond these obstacles, we believe that as a Christian organization, we have a responsibility to love our Affiliates, our partners, and the communities in which we live and compete. Walking that out looks very different today than it did only a few short weeks ago.

We fully acknowledge the profound disappointment that you may experience in response to this announcement. To our seniors, we recognize the added pain and frustration that you may feel. Our hearts go out to you. We hope that each of our competitors will find solace in knowing that your work has not been in vain. The skills that you have gained have equipped you to pursue the bright future that the Lord has for you.

In spite of these temporary circumstances, NCFCA will continue preparing young people to be lights to those in darkness. Although we cannot replace our competition season, we will be sharing opportunities in the near future that will continue to grow your skills and provide vital fellowship.

In tumultuous times, the ability to effectively share the hope that is within us stands in stark contrast to the dark news of the day. Let's use this opportunity to be ambassadors for Christ.

Trusting Him,

Kim CromerNCFCA Executive Director

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
