2022 Debate Resolutions

Every year, NCFCA Affiliate families vote on proposed debate resolutions for the upcoming competition season.

Voting results for the proposed Lincoln-Douglas Value Debate resolutions are:

When in conflict, a corporation's responsibility to its shareholders ought to be valued above its responsibility to its stakeholders. 139 votes

Imposing conditions on humanitarian aid is morally justified. 224 votes

In the context of innovation, the proactionary principle ought to be valued above the precautionary principle. 261 votes

2022 Speech Events

After Dinner Speaking is an original humorous platform speech that informs, inspires, and/or attempts to persuade the audience on a noteworthy topic.

Digital Presentation is an original platform speech that informs or persuades and is accompanied by digital visual aids.

Informative is an original platform speech that explains a significant topic.

Persuasive is an original platform speech that influences the audience to consider a particular point of view or course of action.

Biblical Presentation is an interpretation speech in which the speaker creatively develops one or two selections of Scripture to present a unique and original performance using a visual aid, if desired.

Duo is an interpretation speech in which two speakers explore a published literature selection and develop a unique, original performance.

Open is an interpretation speech in which the speaker explores a published or self-authored literature selection and develops a unique, original performance.

Apologetics is a limited preparation speech in which the speaker draws a topic and is given four minutes to prepare a six-minute speech that presents a well-reasoned defense of basic tenets of the Christian faith.

Extemporaneous is a limited preparation speech in which the speaker is assigned a current event topic and given twenty minutes to analyze news and other sources while preparing a seven minute, evidence-based speech.

Impromptu is a limited preparation speech in which the speaker draws a topic and is given two minutes to prepare a unique and meaningful five-minute speech.

2022 Tournament Plan

We are excited to be able to host a more traditional number of tournaments in-person this year, while continuing to provide excellent online opportunities! Our working plan for the season is to provide the following opportunities.

Regional Qualifiers & Championships

  • Three in-person Regional Qualifiers in each region
  • One in-person Regional Championship per region

National Opens

  • Black Mountain, NC Open February 1-4 at the Ridgecrest Conference Center
  • One online National Mixer opportunity for each region
  • All-Region National Online Open in early April

Moot Court Online

We've experienced tremendous success with Moot Court Online. Online tournaments enabled older students around the country to partner together and welcomed the legal community from across the nation to participate. In 2022, NCFCA will host one online Moot Court tournament per month from January through April for a total of four Moot Court Online tournaments. The Moot Court National Championship will take place online May 24-25.

2022 National Championship

The 2022 National Championship will take place on the beautiful campus of the University of Northwestern, St. Paul the week of June 12th! We are thrilled to be back in-person for the 2022 National Championship.

Chrissy Sweetman has faithfully served as NCFCA's Director of Forensics. During her time with NCFCA, Chrissy has demonstrated a staunch commitment for excellence and incredible strength of character. While she will be greatly missed, we are excited to support her as she moves on to her next adventure. Chrissy, you are loved and appreciated!

In His goodness, God has provided NCFCA's Director of Forensics for the upcoming season. Effective August 1, Kristine Aldrich, our current Region 2 Director, will assume the role of Director of Forensics. Kristine is excited to build on the trajectory that prioritizes sustainability of our mission so that we can continue to challenge and equip young people. It is with an expectant heart that we welcome Kristine to the NCFCA Leadership Team!
